Tasting notes

A wonderful bouquet of red fruits opens onto hints of red cherry on the palate, leading into a smooth, velvety finish.

Winemaking notes. Fruit was destemmed and crushed to bin, with additions of 30 ppm SO₂, 20 g/hl BDX yeast, and 24 g/hl Fermaid O. A warm two-week fermentation was followed by 14 months in French oak, about one-third new.

Vintage notes. The 2021 growing season in western Loudoun County brought a warmer autumn and cool nights toward the end of the season, allowing Cabernet Franc to ripen fully. Fruit was held through early October, yielding high quality with a Brix at harvest of 22 and pH of 3.6.
