Loudoun County, Virginia
Loudoun County sits at the intersection of complex geology, varied mesoclimate, and immediate access to one of the most influential wine markets in the country, Washington, DC. Stretching from the Blue Ridge Mountains through the Short Hill and Catoctin ridges into the warmer eastern piedmont, Loudoun is defined by a diverse mosaic of well-drained soils that naturally limit vigor and promote concentration, balance, and site expression in the finished wines.
Loudoun County wine country spans six sub-regions: the Blue Ridge Mountains, Loudoun Heights, Short Hill Mountains, Loudoun Valley, Catoctin Ridge, and Eastern Loudoun. Each contributes distinct soils, elevation, and climate. The county consistently excels with Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Bordeaux-style blends, Chardonnay, Viognier, Petit Manseng, Sauvignon Blanc, and Albariño.
