Petit Verdot 2022

Produced by Bozzo Family Vineyards · Purcellville, Virginia

Tasting notes

This Petit Verdot shows deep blackberry, plum, and violet aromas with subtle spice and oak. The palate is structured yet smooth, offering refined tannins and bright acidity. Its concentration and elegance affirm its stature as a standout Loudoun County varietal.

Winemaking notes. Fermented in small bins to enhance color and tannin extraction, then completed malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. Aged about 12 months in French oak; the wine developed layered complexity and supple structure while preserving the varietal's bold character and natural richness.

Vintage notes. Loudoun County delivered a steady, well-balanced growing season, allowing Petit Verdot to ripen fully while retaining its signature structure and depth. Stony, well-drained soils supported concentrated fruit with vibrant color, refined tannins, and expressive aromatics.

Accolades. Gold Medal, 2024 Loudoun Wine Awards.
