Petit Verdot 2022
Produced by Cana Vineyards & Winery · Middleburg, Virginia
Tasting notes
Deep and layered, showing rich raspberry, black cherry, and bramble flavors, with vanilla, toasted wood, and dark cocoa notes. The palate is bold and structured, with a lovely balance of vibrant dark fruit and well-integrated oak.
Winemaking notes. Fermented in open-top fermenters with 10 to 14 days of maceration and full malolactic fermentation. Aged 16 months in French oak, 27% new, then sterile filtered prior to bottling.
Vintage notes. 2022 was an even-keeled season for Virginia, producing balanced acid and flavors. The vines were exuberant and produced a bumper crop.
Accolades. Gold, 2026 Virginia Governor’s Cup.
