Cana Vineyards & Winery
Owned by Lisa and Bryce Petty and led in the cellar by Melanie Natoli, the first woman to win the Virginia Governor’s Cup in the modern era, Cana farms 8 acres of estate vines on a 43-acre Middleburg property.
The marriage of grape and place
Lisa and Bryce Petty steward a 43-acre property at Middleburg’s eastern gateway, with 8 acres planted to Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Manseng and Norton. Cana produces estate wines focused on Bordeaux-inspired red blends and rosé.
In the cellar
Winemaker Melanie Natoli joined in 2015 and was the first woman to win the Virginia Governor’s Cup in the modern era. In 2017 she became the first Virginia winemaker named Woman Winemaker of the Year at the Women’s International Wine Competition.
Recognition
The 2019 Unité Reserve took Best in Show at the 2022 Virginia Governor’s Cup, and the 2019 Le Mariage earned Gold plus a Governor’s Case selection (the state’s top tier). Cana returned to the Gold tier at the 2026 Virginia Governor’s Cup with the 2022 Petit Verdot. The portfolio is also a Decanter Magazine favorite, recognized in their tasting reviews.
