'Golden Turkey' Red 2021

Produced by Endhardt Vineyards · Purcellville, Virginia

Tasting notes

Golden Turkey delivers vanilla, plum, cedar, and black pepper on the nose, followed by ripe red berries, cassis, rosemary, and tart cherry. Structured tannins frame a smooth finish.

Winemaking notes. Fermented in bin for roughly two weeks with commercial yeast, the blend completed malolactic fermentation in a mix of one-third new and two-thirds used French and American oak. Aged 30 months in barrel, then bottle-aged further.

Vintage notes. The 2021 season offered a warm spring followed by steady summer heat and moderated rainfall, allowing the four varietals to ripen evenly. Cooler nights preserved acidity, and the estate's Upper and Lower Block microclimates added structure, aromatics, and balance.

Accolades. Gold Medal, Virginia Governor's Cup. 91 points, James Suckling.
