Petit Verdot 2021

Produced by Lost Creek Winery · Leesburg, Virginia

Tasting notes

Deep and expressive, opening with blackberry, plum, and dark cocoa layered with floral and savory spice notes. The palate is structured and powerful, with polished tannins and a persistent, savory finish.

Winemaking notes. Fruit from Meridian Ridge Vineyard and Round Hill was fermented in small one-ton batches, allowing precise lot management and yeast selection. Native malolactic fermentation followed, with minimal cellar intervention. Aged for 20 months in 100% French oak (25% new).

Vintage notes. Harvested October 1, 2021, Petit Verdot benefited from the extended growing season typical of western Loudoun's higher elevations. The vintage delivered ripe phenolics, firm structure, and concentrated fruit while maintaining balance.

Accolades. 93 points, James Suckling. Best in Class Petit Verdot, Loudoun Wine Awards.
