The story

Estate-grown Viognier and Cab Franc

Two Twisted Posts was founded in 2008 on a 160-acre property in Purcellville, with 12 acres under vine. Owner and winemaker Theresa Robertson is English-born, a Level 1 Sommelier, and was mentored by Virginia winemaking veteran Tom Payette. Her husband Brad Robertson manages the vineyard, drawing on deep fruit-farming roots. Their daughter Krista Cato, who has completed coursework at UC Davis along with WSET Levels 1–3, is the assistant winemaker and general manager.

Vineyard & soils

The estate plants Chardonnay, Viognier, Traminette, Vermentino, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc on Piedmont schist with clay overlays. It’s a soil profile that drives both structure and aromatics, and annual production sits around 2,500 cases.

Recognition

The 2023 Cabernet Franc earned Gold at the 2026 Virginia Governor’s Cup, joining a tally of more than 100 awards over the years, including 20 Gold and Double Gold medals across regional and national competitions.
