The story

Petit Manseng leads the program

Mike and Luanne Gutermuth purchased their 42-acre Round Hill property in 2021 with a clear vision: a small, hand-tended estate built around varieties suited to Loudoun’s climate. The tasting room opened in 2023, and 8 acres are now planted to Pinot Blanc, Petit Manseng, Albariño, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot.

Winemaking

Nate Walsh and Kent Arendt of Walsh Family Wine lead the cellar, with annual production targeted at roughly 1,000 cases of estate-driven, restaurant-friendly wines.

Recognition

The 2024 Albariño was named Best in Show at the 2026 Virginia Governor’s Cup, alongside Gold medals for the 2021 Cabernet Franc and the 2024 Dolce Lina. The estate Albariño also won Best Albariño in the 2024 and 2025 Loudoun Wine Awards, and the 2023 vintage took Gold at the Virginia Governor’s Cup. Good Spirit Farm has also been featured in Washingtonian and Travel + Leisure.
